Intermediate Drafting Technician

Our Engineering division is seeking an Intermediate Drafting Technician to provide support to Project Managers in our Engineering group.  Projects will vary from individual lot severances to site plan developments, municipal engineering projects and larger scale plans of subdivision.

Working under the supervision of an Engineering Project Manager and Design Engineer, the primary responsibility will be to assist the engineering group in project delivery, particularly focused on completion of the final design drawings, as follows;

  • prepare engineering drawings for subdivisions, site plans and severances, for review by the engineer and for submission to approval authorities, using AutoCAD Civil3D, according to A. J. Clarke CAD standards

The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop their use of AutoCAD Civil3D as a design tool with a view toward a career progression that will eventually include design responsibilities as follows;

  • aiding project managers in completion of servicing and grading designs under the direction of the engineer including: sewer sizing and layout, road profile design, lot and site grading and cut/fill analysis

 Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Experienced with AutoCAD Civil 3D including Importing Survey Data, Alignments, Profiles, Sections, Grading Surfaces, Data Shortcuts, Storm and Sanitary Sewer Networks, Point Groups etc.
  • Experience working in the field of municipal land-development would be considered an asset
  • Familiarity with municipal engineering drawings requirements would be considered an asset
  • Eligibility for OACETT C.Tech or C.E.T. designation is preferred

Our Surveying division also provides a full range of traditional surveying services including construction monitoring, precision layout, and high definition 3D laser scanning. We are innovative in our approach and whenever possible utilize emerging technologies to improve both the efficiency and quality of deliverables to our clients.

We are currently looking for a full time Party Chief to join our Cadastral Surveying Team. This is a permanent full-time position to begin as soon as a successful candidate is found.

Responsibilities

Working under the supervision of a Project Manager, the primary responsibilities will include:

  • Assessment of field and documentary evidence to perform cadastral surveys including Surveyors Real Property Reports, Reference plans, Condominium Surveys, Plans of Subdivision.
  • Performing pre-engineering, topographic surveys while overseeing field activities. Construction layout for residential and commercial developments.
  • Collecting field data using various survey instruments and GPS field equipment while overseeing QC of data collection ensuring that field notes and daily downloads are complete.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a two (2) year college program in geomatics technology or equivalent preferred
  • Preferred candidate will have a minimum 5 years practical related experience.
  • Knowledge of Acts, Standards and Regulations as they relate to performing cadastral surveys.
  • Knowledge and understanding of legal survey plans (R-Plans, M-Plans, etc.), Block maps, MTO Title Records, and associated documents.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a survey field, or related environment;
  • Proficient in the use of various survey instruments, data collectors, levels and GPS field equipment;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to meet the full range of physical demands of the position, such as carrying survey equipment;
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions;
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License; and,
  • Willingness to travel for site inspections and field work.
